A question that comes up quite often in workshops and events: How to open the heart?
Heart opening is not something that you can force. It is a natural process that occurs when you rest in awareness. The one that wants to have your heart open is not who you truly are. The one that notices this wanting, that is simply aware of this wanting, the one that wants nothing because already has everything, this is what you are. And this is already here. Rest as this one.
Relax, connect with your breath, become fully present and notice the wanting. Notice the thoughts that ask for the heart opening. As you rest in this awareness and you notice, the heart will open most probably by itself. Because it is a natural process. You cannot force a flower to blossom before is time.
And if it doesn’t happen that is also ok. You don’t need to be in a state of heart openness all the time. Whatever you are feeling is perfect for what you need to experience in that moment. There can be an idea that in order to be more spiritual you must be loving all beings all the time and share that love with everyone all the time. And so, you need to reach this state, you need to get somewhere, you need to achieve this state. And if you are not there then you are not enough. But that’s not true. You are already enough, you are already perfection as you are. It is simply the mind that wants to be something more, it’s never satisfied with the present moment, it’s never satisfied right now just as things are.
Notice the mind and rest in the stillness. The stillness is always here regardless of the experience that you’re having. If you’re experiencing grief, if you’re experiencing your heart close, there is something here, before that experience. There is a stillness here, underlying ALL experience. Rest in the stillness and everything else will unfold in the perfect timing, in a natural way. You are exactly where you need to be right now.
